When most people think about healthy living, they think about food. And don’t get me wrong—what we eat absolutely matters. But to me, a truly healthy lifestyle is rooted in so much more than just what’s on our plate.

It’s about the small, everyday choices that support our body, mind, and spirit.

Nourishment That Feeds More Than Just the Body

Yes, I care about what I eat. I love nutrient-dense, whole foods. I try to avoid overly processed ingredients. I eat clean most of the time, love Paleo-style meals, and enjoy cooking with spices that boost flavor and health.

But here’s the thing: I also snack on chocolate chips and cookie dough. I go out for burgers and fries. And I enjoy every bite. I don’t believe in restriction. I believe in balance, joy, and food that feeds your soul, not just your gut.

Health Isn’t Just Food—It’s Everything in Between

The foundation of healthy living includes things we don’t always see on a dinner plate:

  • Prioritizing sleep—because rest is productive.
  • Drinking plenty of water—hydration is underrated. I could be better
  • Spending time outside—sunlight and movement make me feel alive.
  • Making time to move my body—whether it’s a walk, lifting weights, or just stretching in the kitchen between recipe testing.
  • Being social—even just chatting with vendors at the farmers market fills my cup. This is actually tough for me. I like to stay in my bubble at home majority of the time.

Speaking of farmers markets… that’s one of my favorite simple pleasures. I get to check off a few pillars of healthy living all in one go: I’m outside, connecting with people, and supporting local artisans and fresh, seasonal food. It’s the definition of nourishment.

Creativity Is Part of My Wellness

I’m not a nutritionist. I’m not a dietitian. I’m just a woman who loves food, loves people, and finds joy in being creative. I film, I edit, I share. Kinger Kitchen is an extension of that joy—a place where I can celebrate flavors, moments, and memories.

Living well doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. It can be slow mornings, home-cooked meals, spontaneous snacks, and a camera in your hand. It can be equal parts discipline and delight.

I hope this space inspires you to eat well, live fully, and never forget to enjoy it.
